Cloud Computing

Sun Strip is a removable and adhesive strip that applies to any technological piece of equipment that runs on electricity. As soon as the strip, roughly the size of a band-aid, is applied to the surface of the piece of technology, the internal energy shifts from electricity to solar energy. With small, solar panels, the strip absorbs the UV rays into the piece of technology. The computer, smart phone, tablet or mp3 player then stores the energy for future use.

Cloud computing is essentially a shared service distributed over a wide-spread network, such as the Internet. When public, there are multiple types of cloud computing. Three key types are: infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS). For the Sun Strip, it would be most beneficial and efficient to utilize the the infrastructure as a service. With the given features and necessities of the Sun Strip, utilizing IaaS is sure to improve the company.
Cloud computing is necessary for Sun Strip because if there were to be any technical glitches, it would be most convenient if the glitches could be configured through the cloud. Beneficial for both the company and the customer, it also can eliminate tedious visits to a Sun Strip office as well as time and effort for tech support. Similar to Apple's iCloud, it would also be ideal if the customer's account information would be accessible through the cloud for the employees. Granting easy access, customers can easily update changed information. Almost instantaneously, Sun Strip will be able to gain access to the update, adding efficiency to the service and product. This can also reduce paperwork, promoting a paper-less, "green" company that would directly correspond to the "green" product.
Out of the types of cloud computing, IaaS is the most critical and basic. It would be highly encouraged for the Sun Strip to utilize this service because the company has to only worry about inputing their data rather than configuring a whole unknown system for the service. This can be beneficial because Sun Strip is a new company with few and limited customers and data. During the beginning stages, the company should not have to worry about cloud computing when there are more important ideas to be thought. Also, when paying for IaaS, Sun Strip would only be charged per usage, according to the IaaS specifications. This way, a flat rate can be avoided if the company does not vigorously utilize the service during the activated period. Ultimately, IaaS can save money, effort and most importantly, time.
