Cloud Computing

Sun Strip is a removable and adhesive strip that applies to any technological piece of equipment that runs on electricity. As soon as the strip, roughly the size of a band-aid, is applied to the surface of the piece of technology, the internal energy shifts from electricity to solar energy. With small, solar panels, the strip absorbs the UV rays into the piece of technology. The computer, smart phone, tablet or mp3 player then stores the energy for future use.

Cloud computing is essentially a shared service distributed over a wide-spread network, such as the Internet. When public, there are multiple types of cloud computing. Three key types are: infrastructure as a service (IaaS), platform as a service (PaaS) and software as a service (SaaS). For the Sun Strip, it would be most beneficial and efficient to utilize the the infrastructure as a service. With the given features and necessities of the Sun Strip, utilizing IaaS is sure to improve the company.
Cloud computing is necessary for Sun Strip because if there were to be any technical glitches, it would be most convenient if the glitches could be configured through the cloud. Beneficial for both the company and the customer, it also can eliminate tedious visits to a Sun Strip office as well as time and effort for tech support. Similar to Apple's iCloud, it would also be ideal if the customer's account information would be accessible through the cloud for the employees. Granting easy access, customers can easily update changed information. Almost instantaneously, Sun Strip will be able to gain access to the update, adding efficiency to the service and product. This can also reduce paperwork, promoting a paper-less, "green" company that would directly correspond to the "green" product.
Out of the types of cloud computing, IaaS is the most critical and basic. It would be highly encouraged for the Sun Strip to utilize this service because the company has to only worry about inputing their data rather than configuring a whole unknown system for the service. This can be beneficial because Sun Strip is a new company with few and limited customers and data. During the beginning stages, the company should not have to worry about cloud computing when there are more important ideas to be thought. Also, when paying for IaaS, Sun Strip would only be charged per usage, according to the IaaS specifications. This way, a flat rate can be avoided if the company does not vigorously utilize the service during the activated period. Ultimately, IaaS can save money, effort and most importantly, time.

Competitive Analysis

Sun Strip is a removable and adhesive strip that applies to any technological piece of equipment that runs on electricity. As soon as the strip, roughly the size of a band-aid, is applied to the surface of the piece of technology, the internal energy shifts from electricity to solar energy. With small, solar panels, the strip absorbs the UV rays into the piece of technology. The computer, smart phone, tablet or mp3 player then stores the energy for future use.

There are countless products on the market that ultimately achieve the same outcome. These products are essentially solar panels that have been altered in size and power. The panels plug into the digital device through the USB port. Once the solar panels are plugged in, it transfers UV rays into electricity for the device. The solar panels are also portable, often the size of cell phones or tablets.

After researching the products from Battery Stuff (http://www.batterystuff.com/solar-chargers/), a specification intrigued me. There were various battery capacities that were readily available. For instance, there were solar panels available from five watts to eleven watts to some that could even be used to power solar RVs. Currently, there is only a single version of the Sun Strip. With this thought in mind, it would be beneficial to provide Sun Strips with various voltage capacities that are available at different prices. This way, it can be affordable and practical for those individuals who do not need Sun Strips with immense capabilities or those individuals who need Sun Strips with industrial powers. While this may require further in investments, it will significantly increase the amount of customers in the long run.
Similar to Battery Stuff, Earth Tech Products, (http://www.earthtechproducts.com/flexible-solar-panels---portable-solar-battery-chargers.html) portray a wide array of products that are widely available with different sizes and uses. However, a specific detail particularly stuck out: some products were physically flexible. I was overlooking an important aspect. When exposed to daily usage, the Sun Strip can easily shatter and malfunction. Therefore, if the Sun Strip became flexible and virtually indestructible, numerous complaints can be primarily avoided, ultimately improving the product.
After completing research, it is interesting to realize that the Sun Strip has a considerable amount of competition. With each product comes various specifications that are unique to the brand. With enough research, I am to redevelop the Sun Strip so that it encompasses most, if not all, the details that are both necessary and desired in current and future society.

Hardware, The System Unit, Computer Forensics

Sun Strip is a removable and adhesive strip that applies to any technological piece of equipment that runs on electricity. As soon as the strip, roughly the size of a band-aid, is applied to the surface of the piece of technology, the internal energy shifts from electricity to solar energy. With small, solar panels, the strip absorbs the UV rays into the piece of technology. The computer, smart phone, tablet or mp3 player then stores the energy for future use.

The system unit and hardware of a computer is widely applicable to the Sun Strip. Since the product will connect to the internal components of the computer, it is beneficial to know how Sun Strip will impact the device it is moderating. This aspect of the product will be most challenging because it requires innovative alterations to existing technology, without losing efficiency. Most likely, there will have to be various updates to solidify the new technology where problems will have to be resolved.
Foremost, the motherboard, the main circuit board of the system unit, will be internally transfigured because the source of energy is being altered with the Sun Strip. With this great change, most components will also have to change because of its connection to the motherboard. To be more specific, the CPU (Central Processing Unit) will also have to be internally changed. The RAM (Random-Access Memory) and hard drive must also be changed where specifications should be updated to run smoothly even with the Sun Strip. Of course, this will depend on how much of RAM the Sun Strip will need. It would be most efficient if all of these major changes could be accomplished without physically altering the components . In other words, it would be ideal if there was a specific software that can change the specifications through technological means.
If above mentioned form of technology can be developed, the Sun Strip would have access to the computer memory. Furthermore, this may mean that if a Sun Strip was to be stolen, the thief would also have access to the computer, depending on how far the piece of technology is allowed access to the computer. Considering computer forensics, this can be potentially dangerous. Thieves can then have access to the valuable and private information that is often found on computers and smart phones. A potential solution to this problem is to strictly limit the access the Sun Strip will be granted. In addition, it may also be efficient to have a simple system where the Sun Strip will lock onto the device so that it cannot be stolen or lost. For the sake of computer safety, many precautions must be considered when creating this product.

Social Media, Privacy and Excel

Sun Strip is a removable and adhesive strip that applies to any technological piece of equipment that runs on electricity. As soon as the strip, roughly the size of a band-aid, is applied to the surface of the piece of technology, the internal energy shifts from electricity to solar energy. With small, solar panels, the strip absorbs the UV rays into the piece of technology. The computer, smart phone, tablet or mp3 player then stores the energy for future use.

In order to promote and organize the Sun Strip, social media, privacy and Excel are used. Each form of technology assists to improve the overall efficiency of the product.
Social media can be widely applicable where it can be used to promote and market the product. Facebook can be used to introduce the Sun Strip to an audience. As the demographics of the general Facebook audience is becoming more diverse, the advertisement should affect individuals of most appropriate ages and ethnicities. Facebook should also allow the users to promote the product by "sharing" the advertisement with their friends. Twitter can be used to promote updates to the Sun Strip. As the product is being improved, it is important that the consumers are aware that there is an updated version that is available.
Privacy can be indirectly applicable to the Sun Strip. In order to reduce sharing of the product between consumers, each Strip can only be programmed for three different devices. Therefore, a Sun Strip user can program a laptop, a phone and a tablet without purchasing a new product. While this may not directly correspond with privacy, it does keep the product private by eliminating the option of sharing between more than three devices.
Microsoft Excel is often used to record and calculate inventory and/or revenue in many organizations. Similar to many businesses, the Sun Strip company will also use Excel to record the acquired data from sales. This way we can observe how well and how frequent the product is selling. The data can also help illustrate who the consumers are, measuring and observing the demographics of consumers. Microsoft Excel has the great potential to reduce total error, effort and time of humans.
