Final Post

          Sun Strip is a removable and adhesive strip that applies to any technological piece of equipment that runs on electricity. As soon as the strip, roughly the size of a band-aid, is applied to the surface of the piece of technology, the internal energy shifts from electricity to solar energy. With small, solar panels, the strip absorbs the UV rays into the piece of technology. The computer, smart phone, tablet or mp3 player then stores the energy for future use.

          Sun Strip has evolved from a small and simple problem into an idea into a complex possible product. In a day and age where "green" methods of energy consumption are highly considered, it seemed only appropriate to think of a product that would ultimately solve a common problem that also has environmental benefits as well. The Sun Strip was initially originated because there were not enough outlets in Bird Library at Syracuse University. Thus, solar energy panels were thought to be an efficient replacement. 
          When the first lecture post was created, the idea was merely an egg that needed to be incubated and developed. Without any knowledge of modern technology, many questions immediately arose: Can I build this? Do I know anybody that can build this? After asking myself various questions on the possibility of creating the product, it slowly and surely became clear to me that this was a personal idea but could not become technology that I produced. Thus, it was determined that a particular "tech team" was necessary for the efficiency and success of the Sun Strip. 
          Throughout the semester, lectures were taught every Monday and Wednesday by Professor Rubin. Each lecture provided a plethora of valuable information that were applicable to the Sun Strip. From social media to cloud computing to databases, the fundamentals of IST 195 provided alternative prospectives to consider when creating a new product or service. The attained information was valuable and necessary for the continuing evolvement of the Sun Strip.
          In addition to Professor Rubin's lectures, the amount of available time was also beneficial. While it may not be often considered, time is, in essence, the most valuable asset that we are granted. Being able to develop a product over the course of two months allowed my brain to consider the various details and problems of the Sun Strip, ultimately providing improvements. The comments and the productive critiques of my peers also encouraged me to make changes that I would not have thought about.
          The egg that has been incubating over the course of two months is ready to hatch. However, the idea cannot become a reality without the necessary tools and brains. An abundance of solar panels are required in order to create a prototype for the Sun Strip that would be cost-effective and durable. A "tech team" must also be established in the beginning to essentially connect the actual product with the computer and the target audience. While this is highly plausible, it will take trial and error, patience and a desire to always improve a product to suit the needs of its customers.
