Sun
Strip is a removable and adhesive strip that applies to any technological piece
of equipment that runs on electricity. As soon as the strip, roughly the size
of a band-aid, is applied to the surface of the piece technology, the internal
energy shifts from electricity to solar energy. With small solar panels, the strip
absorbs the UV rays into the piece of technology. The computer, smart phone,
tablet or mp3 player then stores the energy for future use.
We are perceived to be living
in a day and age where technology makes our lives more efficient and more
simple. Yet, our lives still revolve around the importance of wires and battery
life. Without these two crucial components of technology, the machine simply
becomes another piece of plastic or metal. In other words, a laptop or a smart
phone is only as good as the battery life. As tech-savvy humans, wires,
chargers and available outlets in essence, control our lives.
With the help of a free,
downloaded program, Sun Strip can quickly and easily transform the internal
energy of any device to solar energy. Inexpensive to buy, one Sun Strip can go
a long way where it can be used with up to five different devices. This can
come especially handy during power outages, when one is stranded or simply when
chargers are forgotten at home. Furthermore, it is applicable for college
students who lead busy and cluttered lifestyles, enabling forgetfulness. What
is more, the strip can always be attached to the device. When the owner desires
to switch sources, a button can be clicked to turn on solar energy. The Sun
Strip charges the device at roughly the same rate as a standard charger.
This simple and small strip
of technology has the potential to alter the lifestyle of avid users of
technology and the amount of used electricity. With the help of the sun, energy
production costs can increasingly reduce. Taking the number of technological
devices per person into consideration, energy can be exponentially conserved if
solar energy was widely used. This product is efficient for the user and for
the environment, proving its necessary role in our current and future society.
I feel like this would be very difficult to accomplish however once it is accomplished it'll become revolutionary. This would truly be a successful product, people no longer have to find the nearest outlet or confined by a charger, these small strips can really help push technology forward and as well as allow us to find another source of energy rather than just electricity. Solar power is the way of the future and with this product it certainly proves so.
ReplyDeleteSorry Daniel, I think this invention is easily attainable. Think about it. We already have technology for wireless charging, where we can out an electronic device on a charging plate, and it charges without cords. The Sun Strip is similar to this invention in which it is wireless, but it just combines solar energy. Great idea, Hikari!
ReplyDeleteI too think this idea is hard to create, but when created it could be revolutionary. This could allow more flexibility when charging items, and less time spent worrying about how much battery one has. The only question I have is, although an Iphone is such a small device, it still uses so much energy. How can a small strip be expected to harness enough power from solar light, to power a device working on so many different platforms/ applications?
DeleteI love the idea of such an modification to electronics. There are methods of wireless battery charging and powering, so I feel like this kind of technology is within reach. I'm not so sure if it actually is possible to convert the sun's energy through a single strip that can be attached like a band-aid. Perhaps it would need to be a little more intricate and perhaps wired into the device. I'm not so sure a simple adhesive attachment would suffice. If the technology is feasible and practical, but most importantly available, then I think this idea is perfect. A lot of electronic devices, namely smartphones, have notoriously short battery lives. This would solve this problem with ease.
